Hello people!! You are here to root your very own and awesome device from tech giant Motorola, “Moto E”. This device is the company’s most economical device with very special and awesome features like 1.2Ghz dual core processor, 4.3 inch LCD with corning gorilla glass display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 chipset. Before rooting your device, please download the following files that are necessary before starting the rooting procedure.
Root and Flash CWM on Moto E:
- First of all, you need to unlock the bootloader of your moto e. To do this, just follow the steps listed below:-
i. Power off the device.
ii. Press the Volume Down and power button simultaneously for about six seconds till the boot screen turns on.
iii. Connect the device with a good quality USB cable with your PC.
iv. Go to C:> Android SDK> Platform Tools, hold the Shift key on the keyboard and right click of the mouse on the blank space of the screen and click on “Open Command Window here”
v. Type the following text in the Command promt window:- “fastboot oem get_unlock_data”
vi. Go to the Motorola’s website if asked to unlock bootloader of Motorola Moto E.
vii. Paste the text of step V in the field of Motorola’s page and click on “Can my device be unlocked”.
viii. If it can, the Request Unlock Key button will appear below it. Click on Request Unlock Key. The unlock key will be sent via e-mail to you on your registered e-mail ID.
ix. When you receive the unlock key, go back to command prompt and type the following with hitting enter at the end of the line:
fastboot oem unlock [YOURKEY] (replace [YOURKEY] with the key you received by email
- After you have unlocked the bootloader of your device, its now time to start rooting your device. Copy the SuperSu,.zip file you downloaded from the previous section to your phone.
Power off your device and turn it on by pressing volume down and power button at the same time for about six seconds.
Save the recovery downloaded from the above section in C:>android-sdk >platform-tools.
A command prompt window will be open. Type the following command and press enter:- “fastboot flash recovery recovery.img“
Tap volume down to highlight recovery on the device and tap volume up to select it.
Choose “install from SD Card” and navigate the mode by using the volume keys.
Select, SuperSU.zip from the list of SD Card and wait for sometime to flash the file.
In the command prompt that should still be open, type the following with hitting enter at the end of the line again. “fastboot flash recovery recovery.img“
Select reboot on the device.
Congrats. You can check the same by navigating to the App Drawer of your device and finding the SuperSU app.
